The closing reception for the 13th annual “Art For the Animals” is tonight, at Howards’ Arts & Frames in Hagerstown, MD. The “Tail-End Reception” begins at 6:30pm, with final bidding ending at 7:30pm. My three paintings (shown above) are available in the auction: (left) Beth March, (center) Carrots, (right) Amy March. All paintings featured in the auction have been donated by local artists, and have been professionally framed by Howards’ Staff. 100% of the proceeds will benefit For Otis’ Sake, Inc. – a dog rescue based in Maugansville, MD.
“For Otis Sake Rescue Groups, Inc. rescues, rehabs and re-homes at-risk dogs that have been pulled from under-funded and overcrowded shelters and animal control facilities across the United States. We are a foster-only organization with no facility. Donations and money raised through fundraising activities are used to cover veterinary care, medication, food, and training expenses for our rescued animals as we prepare them for their adoptive families.
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and health issues are addressed prior to their adoption. While this may seem excessive, we do not want any animal to go to its forever home with known health issues that need to be resolved. We have funded amputations, dental extractions, spays/neuters, cancer treatments, emergency surgeries, training and much more. We do this because we believe each animal that reaches our rescue should be treated in the same loving manner that we treat our own.” (from their website)
I hope to see some of you at the auction tonight!
2018 Calendar Update & Upcoming Events
I am still finishing up a couple of paintings for the 2018 Literary Cats Calendars, and hope to have it completed & ordered in early November. If you missed your chance to support the Kickstarter, I will be opening pre-orders soon! Please follow me on Facebook as well for timely updates: https://www.facebook.com/tarafly
I will be attending four market dates at the Carroll County Farmer’s Market – Ag Center, in Westminster, MD, this year: November 3rd, November 10th, November 24th, & December 8th. I will have calendars available at the November 24th & December 8th markets. If you are unable to attend any of these events, and would like to purchase a calendar, please contact me to reserve copies.
Unfortunately, the Cat Fanciers’ Association will NOT be holding their annual cat show in Winchester, VA, this year. I wasn’t given an explanation, only an apology from the coordinators, and was very disappointed to hear the news – I love attending that show and seeing all the fancy cats being groomed & judged! I will be looking into opportunities to vend at other area cat shows next year, and of course, if CFA hosts the show in Winchester next October – I will be there! :)
I had my best Apple Butter Festival ever – in the 5 years I’ve been selling my artwork there – so THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by my booth to chat and make purr-chases! The weather was gorgeous, too… which was so encouraging after all this spring/summer rain! I will definitely be back next year, so I hope to see you at the 2019 Apple Butter Festival in Berkeley Springs, WV!
Pssst, if you live near Berkeley Springs, you can check out my original paintings anytime at the MAC Ice House Co-Op Gallery, downtown on the corner of Independence St. and Mercer St. You can also buy select framed/matted prints and magnets from the Purrs Cat Cafe on Independence St. ;)
Thank you for all your support this year. Meow!
