My Kickstarter ended very successfully, raising almost $1,400 towards our goal! I am beyond thrilled that we beat last year’s goal, and to see many new names on the list of backers. :)
150 calendars will be ordered, and over 100 of them are already spoken for…. which means, there will only be a few dozen remaining to sell throughout the holiday season. If you didn’t pledge during the Kickstarter, you missed out on all the extra Rewards, but there is still time to pre-order your calendar. Do it today! ;)
Apple Butter Festival, Berkeley Springs, WV
The 41st annual Apple Butter Festival, held in Berkeley Springs, WV, is this weekend ~ October 10th-11th.
I will be there again on the main street sidewalk (Washington St), facing the parade, which begins at 9:00AM on Saturday morning. The festival runs until 5:00PM Saturday, and reopens from Noon until 5:00PM on Sunday. Please stop by and say, “Hello!” ~ you might catch me working on my newest cat portrait if I’m not too busy! :)
Speaking of newest cat portraits…..
Memento Mori Gallery Show
I have started working on a new piece, to be featured in the “Memento Mori” show at Penumbra Art Boutique, in Alverca, Portugal.
The Boutique is owned by former Rabbit Hole Artist Collective member, Helena Reis, and several Rabbits are exhibiting their work at Penumbra. You can view the current roster of artists on her gallery website; I am not listed yet, although she will be updating it soon with new participating artists as our shows draw near. :)
I will be representing the Victorian practice of photographing deceased relatives through my artwork. Last year’s portrait, “Mars & Titania”, was created with that goal in mind for the Rabbit Hole Collective’s October auction. I have been wanting to revisit the theme, and this gallery exhibit is the perfect excuse!
Updates on the progress of the painting, including special Behind-the-Scenes photos and videos, will be available for subscribers to my Patreon page.
Art For the Animals
The 10th annual “Art For the Animals” charity auction, benefiting Guiding Eyes For the Blind, is off and running!
I attended the opening night with my eldest daughter, Lydia. We bid on several pieces that we liked, and happily saw that my “Mad Hatter” and “Queen of Hearts” were among the first pieces to receive bids! :)
The auction is hosted by Howards’ Arts and Frames, located at 1256 Dual Highway, in Hagerstown, Maryland. Howard’s is neighboring a liquor store and a Tarotist palm reader’s shop. ;)
Despite the protests of my friend, Andrew (a framer at Howards’), I have been assured by the store manager that phone-in bids will be accepted through the month of October, up until the final day. No phone-in bids are permitted on the last day, October 24th! The store gets rather crazy in the hours before the auction ends, and all Howards’ staff must remain attentive to in-store visitors and customers.
The number(s) to call and place bids: Phone: 301-733-2722 and Toll-Free: 800-899-5410
I have three pieces in the auction, “Mad Hatter Cat” #124, “Queen of Hearts” #126, and “The CATerpillar” #133.
Each painting measures 5″x7″ and has been professionally framed by the Howards’ staff.
And just one more quick reminder….
If you happen to be in my neck of the woods, treat yourself to “dinner and a show” at The Washington County Playhouse Dinner Theatre. They are currently performing “Cabaret” and “Sleeping Beauty”. My cat artwork is being exhibited in their lobby through November 14th, and 25% of proceeds from the sales of prints will be donated to the theatre!
Thank you for supporting my work this year! <3
